We don’t get to Cooranbong all that often and usually when we do the list of places to go and people to see is so long I usually skip the college cemetery. This morning, however, I slipped quietly away from our friends’ house and spent some time visiting mum’s grave and wandering around looking at others. Two things struck me. Firstly, I was stunned at how many of my childhood classmates have buried a parent in the last few years. Secondly, I found myself pondering the varied messages on the head stones and the different ways that people express grief and faith at the same time. Many of these were succinct summaries of lives well lived for God and others! Great reminders to grab the opportunities that a new year brings!
